Test Reaction to Stoich

Sadly, I was sick today, and have to make it up tomorrow or Thursday. I've heard a little about, such as it's all math, 12 multiple choice questions, and wasn't hard from concept or math, just a massive time crunch to finish it. I've studied al of my weak areas until they were no longer weak, such as the CHO method, balancing chemical equations, and Polyatomic Ions. Have a fantastic Winter Break, a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

The Test has been Postponned!

Yes, I have another day of studying! Praise the Frankenberg for she has given the gift of extra time! I will now have the time to re-study the CHO method and all the percent yield methods, which I almost have down perfectly. Good luck to everybody on the test now Tuesday, and remember it's our last one for the semester!

Lab Missed!

I passed the pre-lab quiz and did the day 1 procedure, but was absent Friday, so I have no idea of the result of the lab!!! If someone could comment these reactions that occurred, it would be very beneficial when I have to turn this in. I heard it was pretty easy, but I just wanted to make sure I had the physical result.

Quiz

I feel like such a fool from thjis quiz. I knew all the material for this chapter perfectly, but made a major error from last chapters memory. All combustion reactions produce H20 and CO2, but I put for the quiz O2 instead of H2O! I much rather would've made an error on the quiz than the test, and I now realize I need to go back and study things that should be known as "common sense" now.

Lab on If Solids are Produced or Not

Today we had a lab, and it went pretty well. Ganon, Eric, and I all studied and passed this quiz, and went in as a group of three. Together, we solved all reactions, preformed all reactions, and recorded data in record time. I also had a lot of fun in this lab, as Eric and I joked to Ganon to be "careful or something may blow up, Hitler". (Ganon, if you're reading this, I still respect you as a good friend, for it was only a joke)

Test Review

After I took this test, a load of weight just flew off my shoulders. I feel like I got a B from simple mistakes, but wouldn't be as surprised if I got an A, compared to last test, which I dearly need currently. This test was much easier than it's previous rival, chemical composition, and I'm grateful for that. Hopefully everybody felt the same way I did, and that you all did well!

Solubility rules

This lesson I was gone for most of the time for, and thought studying up and posting a post would proceed to help force me study. The Rules I found are below:

Lab Reveiw

This lab wasn't challenging what so-ever, as everyone (even the ones that failed) passed into it. The lab was a longer one, but I thought beneficial in that it showed the predicted reactions don't always yield exact accurate results, but are for the most part correct. It also re-enforced crucial topics in passing this upcoming mini test. I didn't do as well as I thought on that test, resulting in a current B- for this quarter, and a B semester. As long as this test goes well on Monday, I should bounce back enough. Good luck to those who are similar situation.

Quiz Reveiw

This quiz wasn't a difficult one,and I'm sadly content with my 8/11. The sad part was I knew what I was doing, but bubbled in the wrong answer. I feel like a fool, but it's better to have learned my lesson on a quiz versus a test. Hopefully, I never make the same mistake again.

Test Review

I thought today's test wasn't difficult, but the time crunch made it so. The trail of Tears was walking from Chemistry to your next class! It took me to the bell, as with most of the class I've heard. I felt that I did fairly well, although I can't say 100% for sure so. Hopefully you guys reading this feel more confident than I, and good luck on your grades!

Formula of a Chloride Review

I got this one correct, again from the aid of my partner. I had all the math correct, but once again, plugged in the wrong numbers. I've finally been able to grasp the concept that which numbers go where in the process(s) it takes to go from chemical X to Moles of it, and vice versa. The pictures are from our lab this time, and are all original. I distinctly remember having to handle the acid, which I'm normally okay with, but to my horror I though acid had splashed over my hands! I found out later that the group  before mine was late, and didn't have time to dry the water from their beakers. I had mistaken the water for acid because it had the exact same consistency as the acid, and they were both transparent.

Formula of a Hydrate Lab Review

Sadly, my partner and I didn't make it in to this lab. I learned what I did wrong from my partner, and benefited from a wrong-doing here than on the test. It turns out I plugged in the wrong number, writing a 9 for a 1, which made a crucial difference. I witnessed this lab from Eric and his partner, and have pictures thanks to them. The lab really narrowed down the concept that dehydration came from a hydrated substance.

Quiz Review on Chemical Composition

I didn't do as well as I thought I would on this quiz. I missed the 7 special elements, and it's rule in which you double the end resultant. I feel this below expected score inspired me to study harder than I might've from an aced quiz. I have a border B to A for this quarter, and I hope this test I ace, and therefore abolish any chance of a B. If not, I still have a couple of back-up grades coming up. Good luck to everyone reading this on their test result!

Test Reveiw

I thought today's test was for the most part either easy or hard at times, giving it overall a harder than usual test. It was either very easy or very hard on all questions, which doesn't make for a easy test. I recall a bunch of buzz on who got what, trying to get insight on if they were right or wrong. Hopefully, everyone did well, and good luck to all when we get our scores back.

Quiz over Chapter's 2 and 5

Today's quiz I felt was fairly easy. I feel I deserved the grade I got, a 23/ 25 (92%), but I felt like I could've gotten a 100%, so I can't wait to see what I did wrong, and learn from it so I'll never make the same mistakes again. This chapter was fairly review for me because I had physics and engineering previously, this was second nature by now. Anyone out there from engineering remember Truses?

Did we Pass? Survey Says...

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had a one group that clutched it at the end, we owe a lot to theses students: Ashley and Dustin. For they saved us from 6 labs of zeros in the future, and provided us with data for those labs. Thanks guys!

Measurement- Aspirin Lab

Today we had the Pre-Lab quiz, and everybody in the class, partner score plus their score, collectively got a zero. This isn't looking good, considering the fact at least one person needs to pass to get data, for not only this lab but 5 labs in 2nd Quarter. We all get 0's if nobody passes tomorrow, and considering this is of a total of 6 labs, his will drop even the high A's to mere C's.

To all who must pass tomorrow: Good Luck and

Test Anaylisis

I think I nailed the test today. Through my reflection on my quiz, using the guided readings to help me study ,and taking good notes, I think I destroyed it. It's nice to finally have this stress revealed, and off my back. Also, the star project I finished yesterday, and I'm formatting it now. APA sourcing is time consuming, but easy relative compared to a test.

Elements in the Stars Wednesday Workday

Today we had the hour to just work on the blog. This free hour Wednesday really helped my workload being reduced greatly, and to have time to type this blog right now. During the hour, I worked on my Elements in the Stars Project, asked questions about blogger formatting, and got to better understand some basic concepts, such as blogger's gadgets. I hope to continue doing these Wednesdays, for they are very helpful to my well being in the class.

Beanium Lab

Our calculations on the table.

Today, Bri and I accomplished the Beanium lab. I have to say, this new element looks very familiar to several types of existing beans, but whatever the teacher says is right, so I guess not. We got the free-bee question on our lab, so no question for us, which was awesome. I might have bragged to some friends about it. Also, a proposed question to all that read this? Would it not just be easier to fail the Pre-lab quiz, get the data faster, and finish ahead of the game? I understand if its a cool lab, but the bean counting wasn't desirable.

Quiz Over Atomic Structure and Radioactivity

I did pretty good on this quiz. I only missed two questions, although I know I could've gotten a 100%. The standards are all okay to me, I just missed a couple of questions from simple mistakes. This grade bought attention the mistakes I made, so I will never make these mistakes. As long as you learn from them, you haven't failed completely. It also bought attention to me what I need to  study extra, so this quiz should help me with my test.

Notes 2

Today, we learned of the history of atomic models and atomic understanding.
Dalton's theory:

  1. All matter consists of microscopic atoms
  2. Atoms cannot be created, destroyed, or changed
  3. All atoms of the same element are identical, specifically in weight
  4. When elements react in compounds, they form in predicable ratios
  5. Atoms can be combined, separated, or rearranged in chemical compounds

Through this theory, we learned how atoms behaved. The theory was disproved in some parts though, such as #3, for isotopes exist.

Pre-Test Radioactive Isotopes

On the test yesterday, it really opened my eyes to how confusing pre-tests are. I'll probably look back on this and be like "wow, that's so easy now". It also revealed to me how obviously dumb one is before a unit, and how complicated chemistry can be. I came in halfway through a lesson, and I was clueless to say the least. Hopefully, it gets much easier to grasp.

Review on Nomenclature

This subject showed me how the class is set up, how the quizzes are, and how Blogger works. I learned I was good at everything except the periodic table charges/ electron number. Through this unit my skills on studying was increased and skills of posting on time. This unit applies to the real world, from the use of Nitric and Phosphourous acid to dissolve, to naming ions.

Final Thoughts on Nomenclature

It was an overall easier unit, except for the Frontier project, which was fun, but very long. The unit really prepped me for the long year ahead, and even though the difficulty will increase, I know get the flow of things in the class.
